Update Your Resume!

This bears
repeating often...update your resume regularly.
It seems
a simple thing…to keep you resume updated. But it isn’t.
You perform so many unique projects that if you don’t
keep track of them, you may lose sight of all your
accomplishments when you are preparing a new resume. Time and
again, I have to pull the information out of my clients as to
why they are special. But
if you keep a running list of all the projects you’ve
preformed and the successes you have achieved, it’ll be a
cinch when it’s time to update your resume.
Here are a
few other good tips to remember when it’s time to update your
resume:
·
Be
sure that your resume has key words for your industry and easily
separates your background from your peers.
·
Focus
on the tangible achievements such as the things you did well for
the company that saved the organization money or that increased
revenue.
·
Keep
the resume to 2 pages, maximum.
·
Don’t
use personal information, clip art or fancy fonts……….keep
to the basics.
·
Keep
in mind what the hiring manager wants to see, not what YOU want
to present.
·
Use
bullet points extensively – they are easier to read.
